You don’t have to be nervous about root canal therapy. Many years ago, it was the subject of many stories about unpleasantness, but those days are long gone. Modern dentistry and state-of-the-art equipment have combined to ensure that your experience will be a comfortable one. Most of our patients tell us that they noticed either very little pain during the treatment, or even none at all. That’s a big part of our commitment to your needs here at the practice of Richard L. Kalmans, D.D.S.
There are two reasons why you may need our Stamford root canal. The most common is that your tooth has become infected as the result of a breach in the protective layers of the tooth, such as a cavity, loose or lost filling, or a chipped or cracked tooth. The other possibility is damage to the pulp inside from a traumatic dental injury. Either way, the process is the same. Our Stamford root canal is not surgical, so there is no cutting for you to be concerned about, nor are there any stitches afterward. First, you are numbed with local anesthesia. The initial part of the treatment is to drill the top of the tooth, and there are no nerves there anyway. Once access is gained to the infected or damaged tissue, it is removed, followed the cleaning of the canals, and then sealing them off to prevent further infection or complications. The procedure is successful 90% of the time, so you can be confident in getting the desired outcome, which is for your tooth to be strong, healthy, and viable in the long term.
If you have a toothache, pain when chewing or putting pressure on the tooth, sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks, tooth discoloration, gum tenderness, or swelling, then you might require our Stamford root canal. Contact our office right away to schedule a prompt appointment.
